General Questions

KLM Graphics was first established in 1998, with the focused on graphics and basic web design. Over the years I have evolved the brand into a full blown social media agency with web development at the center and web hosting and graphics as addon services.

The cost of a website can vary depending on various factors, just like the cost of a house may vary. To give you an answer here would be inaccurate and it would be better to give me a few details about your potential projects and have me give you an accurate figure. It does not cost anything and most of the time even if I do not win you as a client I can give you some useful tips that will make you a more savvy client and that will make it harder for the unscrupulous web developer to screw you over.

The project starts with a 50% deposit. After design sign off and before we move into programming, we collect 25%. Once I have completed and fulfilled our scope, the final 25% is collected and your website is then scheduled for launch. I am flexible however and can make a different schedule if you have a fair reason.

I work with a broad range of company models - small start-ups, large corporations, nonprofits, B2B, B2C across many business industries - technology, food, apparel, health + beauty, camps, travel, finance, arts, fair trade, and more. Really there is no limit to the type of business I work with but there are some cases where I am not a good fit. I will tell you up front if you are not a good fit and where possible I will give you some viable options to help you get your project off the ground.

A standard websites take approximately 30 days to create. An E-commerce (online store) websites take approximately 90 days (or more depending on a variety of factors) to create. This time will vary from project to project.

I generally build all of my websites on the open-source Content Management System (CMS) platform called Joomla. However there are cases where Joomla is just not a viable option and in those cases I have a few solutions I will opt for instead. For example if you need an eCommerce website I call on Magento to accomplish the heavy lifting required to give you the best solution.

While there are issues of liability of multiple programmers touching the same code over time I do get asked this from time to time and the short answer is yes. However there are some situations where it is either not possible (I may not be comfortable or knowledgeable enough) and I will have to decline or offer you a potential solution.

Yes. I can include copy writing but it does cost extra, however as with all of my work what I create is guaranteed.

Yes. I can help you source stock photos and in fact I have a massive collection of stock photos on just about every topic available. I also have photographers and videographers available to produce custom photography and videos for your website.

YES! Everything that I build will be 100% owned by you, with the exception of some extensions and frameworks that you may opt for or that I install by default. Most of my clients stay with me for the life of the website. But if for any reason you decide you want to take your site to another hosting service and get another company to service the site, I will happily assist you in making the transition as effortlessly and efficiently as possible. The website is yours after all, and I want you to take it wherever you go.

Hosting Questions

All websites that I created start their lives on one of my state of the art servers and can easily be setup on an account for your domain once ready to go live. However, if you wish to move to a new web firm + web host, I will package up your site at no cost and set them up on the host of your choice. There are limitations to this however and some hosts are simply not capable of running the sites I build, in these cases I will help you find a viable host that meets the requirements of the site and that you are happy with. The data center that I use for web hosting is www.singlehop.com.

I houses all of my clients on a single dedicated server that I continually upgrade on a yearly basis at a data-center in Chicago with Singlehop. I am more than happy to offer answers to any and all questions you might have. Please feel free to contact me with any burning questions you may have.

I back up all of my client's websites daily, weekly and monthly on rotation to a 3rd party secure server out of the location of the web server. My CMS platforms also includes version control that saves a restore point of a page every time it is saved. If a site is needed to be fully restored, there is no cost to the client.

The cost of hosting depends on the features you need.

  • Basic Hosting: $10/mo
  • Basic Support: $15/mo
  • Full Support: $25/mo

All of my hosting packages are un-metered meaning that you will never be charged extra for going over a "limit." There are occasionally instances though if a site creates so much traffic that it may need to live on it's own server. I can help facilitate this if needed, but is extremely rare.

Yes and at no cost! You 100% own everything that I create for you and if requested I will provide a full backup of your website.

Unfortunately I do not offer refunds on my web hosting accounts.

While there is no guarantee when it comes to securing your website, I have applied my 15+ years hosting to ensure the servers under my charge have the best possible software configurations available and also a very strong hardware firewall. All of the sites I build have their own built in security features that go a long way in providing a safe and secure environment for your website and features to help ensure there is a known clean backup to restore from in the event of a breach. After which I will not rest until I have discovered the cause of the breach and taken the necessary actions to ensure it will not happen again.
