Small business cannot afford to ignore the internet anymore. It is clear now that having a website, using social media as well as other digital marketing approaches are the backbone for business promotion, used as a marketing tool or a sales platform. In a survey Adobe found that 76% of marketers think marketing has changed more in the last two years alone than in the past 50 years.

Most business owners know very little if anything about search engine optimization (SEO), Google Ads or digital content management. You should not be alarmed, there are some basic fundamentals for internet sales and marketing that you need to understand. Armed with the right information and the right support, navigating these waters is not as daunting as you might think.

SEO is the practice of showing search engine users relevant websites based on the words or phrases they search for. There are methods that your web designer/developer use to maximize your websites SEO based on algorithms search engines use.

There are many places you can go for help such as your local library, Chamber of Commerce, local Better Business Bureau and your local Small Business Administration offices. Some cities and towns also have some great resources that can be found at the local unemployment offices and from your city directory if you search for the right questions you may find other resources that I have not listed here. Whatever you do, make sure you research the source fully to make sure they are legitimate and really have your best interests at heart.
